Collected by Joop Bouma, an investigative journalist working for the newspaper Trouw, through Dutch government Freedom of Information Act requests in 2000 and 2011. Bouma authored The Smokescreen: The Power of the Dutch Tobacco Industry, which examines influence-peddling in the government and media, as well as behind-the-scenes deals surrounding the tobacco industry in the Netherlands, the largest cigarette exporter in the European Union.
